Home Guard: Company C (Dover) of the 8th Kent (Cinque Ports) Battalion, 8 platoons listed, defending the town and harbor. Also some sections of the Lyminge HG Battalion around the perimeter (St Margaret’s, West Hougham, Kearsney).
On voit clairement que des unités de destruction des Royal engineers sont présentes .
Les batteries navales défensives n'ont aucune utilité , puisque la ville devait être prise par les terres ( ceci dit , les canons non "casematés" pouvaient se tourner vers les terres ) .
On a la environ 8000 hommes , dont environ 1700 sont des troupes de qualité ( Green Howards, Royal Fusiliers , Commando n°5 ) .
Mais je doute que face a un kampfgruppe de parachutistes ( env 2000h ) , appuyés par les éléments avancés d'une division d'infanterie ( env 6000h ) et une quarantaine de chars Tauchpanzer , ils aient résisté bien longtemps ne pouvant compter sur aucun renforcement , puisque la zone était couverte au nord par d'autres unités Allemandes .
Mais le port auraient probablement été détruit en partie . Mais on trouve aussi un grand nombre d'unités du génie dans les troupes de débarquement Allemandes ...qui n’étaient pas la pour se tourner les pouces .
