Je n'ai aucune information concernant Ste-Mère mais j'ai reçu copie d'un email (en anglais) dans lequel il lui est rendu hommage:

When BOB told us last April that he had a cancer we feared he would not make it for D Day 2008 in Sainte Mere.
In spite of the pain he made a point to attend the ceremonies. One was the magnificent celebration at MONT SAINT MICHEL where BOB was honored with the medal of the French senate among hundreds of viewers and a parade of US paratroopers.
As usual he was in great spirits and all smiles at his little kids party which he was giving each year at my brother Henri Jean s house. We were all happy to see him in such a good mood ,telling his usual jokes .We did hide our sadness knowing that he would not be with us next year.
In Sainte Mere BOB was the mega star of the Airborne Veterans. Why is that ?
IT all started in the late 60s when BOB showed up in Sainte Mere and inquired with the possibility of making a commemorative jump on D Day with few other Veterans..With the active help of my mother he obtained the necessary authorizations and a plane.
When they jumped it became locally a sensational event. As the US medias never report of what is going on in Sainte Mere you never heard about it at that time in the States.
Few years later he joined with his good friend YVES TARIEL to organize more structured D Day jumps in combination with french civilian and paratroopers and the participation of the french Air Force.
BOB and YVES are the 2 individual who really did put the D Day jumps on the map.
BOB attended religiously every D Day ,he was very popular and always ready to help.
BOB brought his full support to my mother s AVA,to YVES TARIEL S project to bring ,single handedly, the C47 plane to the museum,to the RON MIKE monumument in La Fiere and to few other projects.
When I talked to him on Sept 21st he was in pain but in full control.
He became very animated when he mentioned the very unfriendly way in which the C47 Club was behaving towards his friend EMILE LACROIX in Belgium. He was also upset to know that his film NO BETTER PLACE TO DIE was cancelled due to bad management.
Colonel BOB PIPER, DON LASSEN and now BOB MURPHY all our heroes are leaving us.
This is the end of an era.Sainte Mere will never be the same.
History made you part of our lives You honored us with your friendship
May you rest in peace and in glory in this very special place in Heaven reserved for the Airborne soldiers.
Maurice RENAUD
Pour ma part, je l'avais aussi rencontré quelques fois en Belgique.
